
RADFORD, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming team was in action on the second day of the 2008 ODAC/Atlantic States Swimming Championship on Saturday in Radford, Va., at the Dedmon Center.
The Generals won both relays and posted three first-place finishes on the day.
In the relays, the team of junior Lindsey Strachan (Midlothian, Va./Governor’s School), sophomore Jenna Worsham (Cumming, Ga./Wesleyan School), senior Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches) and freshman Tess Hayden (Winnetka, Ill. / New Trier) won the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:52.42. Hayden and Worsham then joined up with sophomore Sarah Simpson (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg and freshman Jackie Smith (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood) to win the 800 free relay in a time of 8:09.96.
Individually, Strachan posted a first-place finish in the 100 back (1:00.05), while Roberson took the gold in the 100 fly (1:00.04) and Hayden won the 200 free with a 1:59.42. Worsham finished first in the 100 breast (1:12:01). Additionally, junior Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) was the second to finish in the 400 IM (4:51.89).
W&L looks to claim its 18th ODAC title on Sunday in the final day of the championship meet.
