W&L Men's Swimming in Eighth After Second Day of NCAA's

OXFORD, Ohio – The Washington and Lee men’s swimming team competed in the second day of the 2008 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center at Miami University (Ohio). W&L is in eighth place after 13 events.

Senior Alex Sweet (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) placed ninth in the 200 free in a school-record time of 1:39.10. Junior Paul Crook(Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) also participated in the 200 free, finishing 11th with a time of 1:40.82.

Sweet and Crook teamed up with senior Tim McGlaston (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) and junior Chris Diebold (Platte City, Mo./Landsdale Catholic) to post an eighth-place finish (6:45.44) in the 800 free relay.

The Generals return for the final day of the 2008 NCAA's on Saturday. The preliminaries begin at 11:00 am.
