W&L students enjoy talking about what makes W&L special: the "speaking tradition," our Honor System, small and interesting classes, faculty and staff who know students by name, their friends they know they'll have for a lifetime. They'll then talk about all the things that interest them outside of class: concerts, sports, Greek life, student clubs. If you have questions about life inside or outside the classroom, Student Affairs is the place to start.
The Division of Student Affairs at Washington and Lee University supports the mission of the University by promoting a safe, supportive and caring community to help individual students reach their full potential. Student Affairs staff provide guidance and resources that support students in the development of intellectual and personal skills appropriate for leading and serving in a global society. Our programs and services reflect the importance of honor, the speaking tradition, harmonious relationships among students, faculty, and staff; personal and social responsibility and respect for the University. Additionally, programs promote active engagement in community, cooperative decision-making, creativity, multiculturalism, and physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness. We are committed to helping students grow as unique individuals and respect what is unique in others.
The Student Affairs Division includes: Public Safety, Student Health and Counseling Services, Elrod Commons, Campus Activities and Auxiliary Services, and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs which includes the First-Year Program, Multicultural Programs, Student Conduct, Religious Life, and Residential Life.
