The Centennial Conference recently announced its 2008 Academic Honor Roll and the Washington and Lee wrestling team had four wrestlers earn the award. Seniors Kirk Adamson (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's), Anthony Boniello (Katonah, N.Y./Somers) and David Shubick (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook), and sophomore Sammy Brusca (Rockville, Md./Georgetown Prep) were among the honorees.

Individually, to be eligible for academic honor roll, an athlete must have a GPA of 3.4 or higher on a scale of 4.0.

A two-time honoree as a business major, Adamson finished the season with a 17-11 record at 184 pounds and led W&L in pins (5). He wrapped up his career with a 51-43 overall record, while notching 18 pins.

A physics and engineering major and a two-time member of the NWCA Scholar All-America team, Boniello completed the season with a 19-7 overall record and was the 2008 runner-up at 165 pounds at the Centennial Conference Championships. He finished his career with a 62-41 overall record.

Brusca, who wrestles at 141 pounds, is a neuroscience major. He racked up a 9-14 overall record this season and led the team in escapes (36).

A two-time honoree and accounting major, Shubick tallied an 18-9 overall record and finished third at the Centennial Conference Championships at 133 pounds. Over his four years, Shubick amassed a 68-44 overall record.

W&L concluded the 2007-08 season with a 7-5 overall record and a 2-5 mark in the Centennial Conference.
