W&L Women's Cross Country Wins Virginia State Meet

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's cross country team finished first out of three teams that competed at the Virginia State Meet held at the Peak View Farms in Harrisonburg, Va., on Saturday morning.

The Generals were paced by first-year Kathryn Iwata (Pasadena, Calif./Flintridge Prep), who finished first overall out of 31 runners with a time of 26:09.79.  First-year classmates Alexandra Shabo (Hingham, Mass./Hingham), SoRelle Peat (St. Louis, Mo./Brentwood) and Lauren Laskowski (Golden, Colo./J.K. Mullen) and junior Rosemary Kelley (West Springfield, Va./West Springfield) all finished in the Top 5 as well.  Shabo finished fourth with a time of 26:50.60, Peat was fifth with a time of 26:56.93, Laskowski finished eighth (27:35.93) and Kelley placed ninth with a time of 27:40.63.

Washington and Lee will return to action on October 18 as it competes in the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble beginning at 10:30 am.
