Washington and Lee University

Volunteer

There are many ways for Alumni to assist Washington and Lee. Alumni across the country and in the United Kingdom are involved with one or more of the following volunteer groups. Click on any of the links above for a brief overview:

Your Local Alumni Chapter
Local alumni chapter leadership positions may include the chapter president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, alumni admissions chair, assistant alumni admissions chair, ACAP Coordinator, Annual Fund liaison, and Law Alumni liaison. To learn more about available positions in your chapter, contact your local chapter president.

Become an Undergraduate Class Agent
Each class has one or more Agents, who serve their classmates as University liaisons. While the primary responsibility of a Class Agent is to assist in their class's Annual Fund effort, they also assist with Reunions, Class Newsletters, etc. To find out more information about serving as a Class Agent, contact annualfund@wlu.edu.

Participate in Your Local Chapter Phonathon for the Annual Fund
Many alumni chapters hold Annual Fund Phonathons every year, where local alumni call their fellow chapter members to seek support for the Annual Fund. Helping with the Chapter Phonathon is a great way to make contacts within your area, have fun, and help W&L. To become active in your Chapter's Annual Fund effort, contact Kate Turnbull at kturnbull@wlu.edu.

Help Organize Your Class Reunion
Volunteers are always needed to help organize class reunions. If you're approaching a 5-50 reunion year and would like to get involved, contact the Alumni Office at alumni@wlu.edu or 540-458-8464.

Provide Internships and Career Mentoring Services for Washington and Lee Students
Students can benefit from internships and career mentoring from our many successful Washington and Lee contacts and the fields and corporations in which they are employed. If you'd like to get involved as a career mentor or post an internship with your company, contact Career Services at careers@wlu.edu or 540-458-8595. And be sure to designate yourself as a career mentor on Colonnade Connections!

Become an Alumni Admissions Program Representative
Alumni Admissions Program Representatives are an instrumental part of the admissions process, conducting local interviews with prospective students who are unable to travel to Lexington for a campus visit. Some areas are full, but if you'd like to get involved in this program, contact your local alumni chapter president for the name of the AAP coordinator in your area or e-mail Ellen Austin, secretary of the Alumni Admissions Program, at eaustin@wlu.edu

Host Area Washington and Lee Parents
The University welcomes assistance in hosting get-togethers for area Washington and Lee Parents, particularly parents of newly-accepted students. For more information on how you can help, contact Kate Turnbull, Associate Director of the Annual Fund, at or 540-458-8943.

Facilitate Contact with Foundations and Corporations
The University welcomes assistance in facilitating valuable contacts which may lead to corporation or foundation support for Washington and Lee's Strategic Plan. For more information on how you can help, contact support@wlu.edu.
