The Washington and Lee men's tennis team advanced three individuals to the semifinals of their respective flights at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Singles Championships held at W&L on Saturday and Sunday.
Freshman Morgan Hopson (Houston, Texas/St. Thomas) went 2-0 to advance to the semifinals of the "B" Flight, while senior Nelson Bunn (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) and junior Jamie McCardell (Cornwall, Vt./Episcopal) both went 2-0 in the "C" Flight to advance to the semis.
Hopson, the top seed in the "B" Flight, downed Roanoke's Sam Jordan in the opening round and Kyle Schneck, also of Roanoke, 6-0, 6-1, in the quarterfinals. He will square off with Hampden-Sydney's Zack Pack in the semis on Sunday morning.
McCardell is the top seed in the "C" Flight and opened with a default win over Will Garrison. He then defeated Bridgewater's Brad DeWitt in the quarterfinals by a score of 7-5, 6-4 and faces Hampden-Sydney's Taj Covington in the semifinals.
Bunn downed Randolph-Macon's Tripp Howerin, 6-2, 6-0, in the opening round and knocked off Hampden-Sydney's Andrew McLeod, 6-4, 6-1, to advance to the semis where he will face Roanoke's Pete DeWitt.
The ODAC Singles Championship resumes on Sunday morning at 9:30 am.
