

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The W&L Women’s swimming team took first in all 10 events as the Generals posted a team score of 662 to take the ODAC Fall Relays on Saturday.
Randolph-Macon was the Generals’ nearest competitor, totaling 506 points. Sweet Briar (444), Bridgewater (424) and Emory & Henry (238) rounded out the Top 5.
Senior Julianne Miata (Valhalla, N.Y./Westlake) and junior Sarah Simpson (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg) led the Generals to the team win as each participated on five winning relay teams. Senior Lindsey Strachan (Richmond, Va./Governor’s School) and junior Jenna Worsham (Cumming, Ga./Wesleyan School) each had a hand on four winning teams.
Wins for W&L included; Simpson and Miata teaming with first-year Kate Salvati (Roselle Park, N.J./Mt. St. Mary) to win the 150 yard butterfly relay in a time of 1:25.14. Simpson and Miata, as well as Worsham and first-year Lauren Starnes comprised the 400 free relay that won in 3:47.83. Simpson, Worsham and Starnes were then joined by sophomore Tess Hayden (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) to win the 500 free relay with a time of 5:02.49.
Strachan also had a hand in the 150 backstroke relay along with first-years Jocelyn Cassada (Charlotte, N.C./Country Day) and Brielle Weinstein (Summerville, S.C./Pinewood Prep), as they clocked a 1:28.47 in victory.
Miata, Simpson and Strachan swam with junior Lynn Bazzell (Atlanta, Ga./Lovett) to take first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:56.90.
Both the men’s and women’s teams are in action on Friday when they travel to Transylvania for a 7:30 pm meet.
