MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Washington and Lee men's swimming team had several individuals competing at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday at the University of Minnesota.

First-year Chris Washnock (Greer, S.C./Greenville) earned Honorable Mention All-America honors with his finish in the 400 IM event.  Washnock set a school record in the prelims (4:01.99) then bettered that record time en route to placing 13th overall in the finals with a time of 4:01.60.

The Generals' 400 medley relay squad consisting of Washnock, senior Paul Crook (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell), first-year Brian Stirling (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) and junior Brandon Barnds (Mission Hills, Kan./Shawnee) finished 17th in the prelims with a school-record time of 3:26.29. They are the first alternate for the finals and will be selected to compete should another relay team choose not to participate.

The 200 free relay team of Barnds, Brian Stirling, junior Nick Talluri (Mt. Airy, N.C./Mount Airy) and Crook also narrowly missed qualifying for the finals after placing 20th overall in the prelims with a time of 1:24.59.
