MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The Washington and Lee men's and women's swimming teams had several individuals competing at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday at the University of Minnesota.

On the men's side, the Generals' 800 free relay squad consisting of senior Paul Crook (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell), junior Nick Talluri (Mt. Airy, N.C./Mount Airy), first-year Brian Stirling (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) and junior Brandon Barnds (Mission Hills, Kan./Shawnee) missed qualifying for the finals after finishing in 17th place in the prelims with a time of 6:50.89.

First-year Chris Washnock (Greer, S.C./Greenville) placed 22nd and missed the finals qualifying mark in the 100 back with a time of 51.60.

For the women, senior Lindsay Strachan (Midlothian, Va./Governor's School) finished tied for 33rd place and missed qualifying for the finals when she touched in 58.70 in the 100 back.

Action continues on Saturday with the 100 free, 200 back and 400 free relay events.
