Interdisciplinary Programs

Endowments naming selected interdisciplinary programs support faculty appointments and interdepartmental academic initiatives in areas such as Law and Entrepreneurship, Environmental Studies, and Women's Studies.  The director of the program will carry the name of the professorship associated with the program.

Planned iterdisciplinary programs and initiatives that W&L intends to support by raising endowments include:

  • African-American Studies Program
  • Women's Studies Program
  • East Asian Studies Program
  • Latin American course offerings
  • Middle East course offerings
  • South Asia course offerings
  • International Studies course offerings
  • Law and Commerce course offerings
  • Corporate Governance course offerings

Another emerging priority in this area is to endow a joint faculty position between the Law School and the Shepherd Program in Poverty and Human Capability.

  • The minimum to endow an interdisciplinary program is $3 million.
