Washington and Lee University
The Washington and Lee baseball squad has teamed with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and will be having a "hit-a-thon" to help raise funds and awareness for the disease when it hosts Roanoke on Saturday.
During W&L's double-header with the Maroons, the squad will solicit donations and pledges. Pledges can be generic or based on total runs and hits over the two-game set.
The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a non-profit donor-supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease. The Foundation is the leading organization in the United States devoted to cystic fibrosis. It funds and accredits more than 115 CF care centers, 95 adult care programs and 50 affiliate programs, and has 80 chapters and branch offices nationwide.
Bryan Emrey, a local child who has been afflicted with cystic fibrosis, and his family will be in attendance and Bryan is slated to throw out the first pitch of the double-header.
