Austin Calhoun is in her second year as assistant sports information director at Washington and Lee.
She serves as the primary contact for several of the University's sports teams, is involved with coordinating the University's Student Athlete Mentor Group (SAMS) and served as the Athletic Department liaison for the website redesign.
Calhoun is a 2003 W&L graduate, earning a bachelor of arts in journalism and mass communications. She was a two-year letterwinner for the women's basketball team and served as a team captain during her senior season.
Calhoun served as a sports information intern at the University of Delaware for the 2003-04 year and later earned a master of science in education with a concentration in sport administration from the University of Miami in 2006. She graduated with honors from Miami and successfully defended her master's thesis entitled "Perceived Organizational Support Among Division III Athletic Directors". She served as a research assistant for Miami's School of Education and held an internship at the United States Olympic Committee and USA Water Polo in Colorado Springs, Colo., during the summer of 2005.
