Chris Schall is in his fifth year as director of the W&L Fitness Center and strength and conditioning coach.  In this position, he is responsible for maintenance of the University's 11,000-square foot fitness center facility and coordination of fitness and wellness programs.  He also coordinates the strength and conditioning programs for the W&L athletes.

Schall arrived at W&L in August of 2003 after four years as a physical education teacher, mathematics teacher, and strength and conditioning coach at the Steward School in Richmond, Va. In that capacity, Schall supervised the design of, and continued to maintain, the school's 1,500-square foot weight room in addition to implementing the school's strength and conditioning programs.

Prior to his experience at the Steward School, Schall served as a health education instructor at the Blue Ridge School in St. George, Va., during the 1997-98 school year and was an exercise specialist at NovaCare in Orange, Va., from 1993-97.

A 1989 graduate of SUNY-Fredonia with a bachelor of science in sound recording technology, Schall earned his master of education in exercise physiology from the University of Virginia in 1993. While at UVa., he served as the graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Cavaliers, assisting in the execution of conditioning programs for the school's 21 varsity sports teams.

Schall is certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association, United States Weightlifting Federation and the American Red Cross.
