LEXINGTON, Va. -- The 2008 Washington and Lee men’s soccer team netted two goals in the second half to defeat Shenandoah, 2-0, in the home-opener on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.

The Generals (1-0) and the Hornets (1-4) remained tied 0-0 through the first half and some of the second, until W&L junior midfielder Drew Crowley (Weston, Mass./Weston) found the back of the net off of a junior forward Whit Larkin (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal) corner kick at 63:11. First-year Huntley Johnson (Gainesville, Fla./St. Francis Catholic) then added an insurance goal with 48 seconds remaining in the game for the 2-0 final.

Sophomores Will Dorrance (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) and Ben Bartlett (Towson, Md./McDonogh) split time in goal, combining for the shutout for W&L. Dorrance registered one save, while Bartlett stopped two shots. Shenandoah goalkeeper Armon Bozorgmanesh (Leesburg, Va./Heritage) played the entire 90:00 and totaled four saves.

The Generals return to competition on Sunday when they host Piedmont for a 2:00 pm contest.
