Washington and Lee University
Senior midfielder Josh Dodds (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) contributed to both of the Generals' scores as the Washington and Lee men's soccer team defeated Marymount, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
W&L (2-1-1) got on the board in the 11th minute of the contest when junior midfielder John Lindsay (Cockeysville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) booted the ball into the upper left-hand corner of the net off a dish from Dodds. Dodds then added an insurance goal at 59:04 off a cross from junior midfielder Tommy Pignatelli (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) for the 2-0 final.
Seniors Ted Sheedy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Jim Tartaglia (Richmond, Va./J.R. Tucker) split time in goal, combining for the shutout for W&L. The duo each made three saves. Freshman William Brahmstedt (Falls Church, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) tallied seven saves between the pipes for the Saints (2-4).
The Blue and White held a 25-13 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they open ODAC play at Lynchburg at 7:00 pm.
