GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee golf team is in ninth place out of 18 teams after the first round of play at the Greensboro Invitational held at the Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, N.C.
The Generals fired an opening round 307 and trail team leader Methodist College by 18 strokes. Oglethorpe is second with a score of 296, followed by Randolph-Macon (298), Guilford (298), Washington & Jefferson (300), Huntingdon (300), Emory (304), LaGrange (304), W&L (307) and Lynchburg (308).
Individually, W&L was led in round one by senior Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller), who is tied for 11th place with a two-over par score of 74. Nick Bolva of Methodist and Josh Cumming of Greensboro are tied for the lead with an opening round 69.
Action continues on Tuesday morning with the second and final round.
