W&L Golf Tied for Seventh After First Round at Marine Corps Invitational



CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee golf team shot an opening round 283 (+3) on the Scarlet Course at the Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate on Friday afternoon at Camp Lejeune.  After playing the easier, par 70 Scarlet Course on Friday, the Generals are tied for seventh place out of 32 teams.

Barry University leads the way with a 270 on the Scarlet Course, while Savannah Art & Design shot a 275.  Webber International shot a 278, followed by the Camp Lejeuene #2 (281), Bridgewater (282), Thomas (282), California of Pennsylvania (283) and W&L (283).

Individually, senior Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller) is leading the team with a one under par score of 69.

Action continues on Saturday as W&L will play the Gold Course.
