AMHERST, Va. -- The Washington and Lee golf team resides in first place out of nine teams following the first day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships held at the Poplar Grove Golf Club in Amherst, Va.
The Generals carded an opening round 302 and lead the second place team, Hampden-Sydney (310) by eight strokes. Roanoke is in third (320), followed by Guilford (321), Randolph-Macon (323), Bridgewater (325), Virginia Wesleyan (330), Lynchburg (330) and Emory & Henry (394).
Individually for the Generals, senior Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller) and sophomore Matt Langan (Prospect, Ky./Trinity) both fired a three over par score of 75 to lead the way.
Action continues on Sunday afternoon with the second of three rounds for the championship title.
