W&L Men's Tennis Hosts ODAC Singles Tournament


LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee men’s tennis team advanced six individuals to the semifinals of their respective flights at the ODAC Men’s Singles Tournament held at Washington and Lee on Saturday.

W&L first-year Jeremy Becht defeated Lynchburg’s Kristian Richardson and Rich Pugh of Hampden-Sydney to advance to the semi-finals of the “A” Flight where he will take on W&L sophomore Morgan Hopson (Houston, Texas/Saint Thomas). Hopson downed Roanoke’s Hart Callahan and Ryan Radke of Bridgewater to move on.

The Generals also advanced two players to the semifinals in the “C” Flight. First-year Brian Roberts received a first-round bye and then defeated Brent Floyd of Bridgewater to advance, where he will face Hampden-Sydney’s Zach Pack tomorrow. Pack knocked off Robert Martin of Lynchburg and Roanoke’s Ben Tingle to move on. Sophomore Will Hall (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) also advanced after receiving a first-round bye. He then downed Kyler Paluga of Lynchburg. Hall will face Teddy Callow of Bridgewater, who defeated Hampden-Sydney’s Tal Covington and Chris Wojtera of Emory & Henry.

The ODAC Singles Championship resumes on Sunday morning at 9:00 am.
