

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Washington and Lee women’s cross country team finished ninth out of 35 teams at the 23rd annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.
In the process, W&L knocked off several of the Top 25 teams in Division III, including 19th-ranked Wisconsin-Platteville and 21st-ranked Emory University.
The Generals were paced by senior Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park), who finished ninth overall out of 485 runners with a time of 23:07. Senior Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield School) placed 32nd overall with a time of 23:49, while junior Kat Telfeyan (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) crossed the finish line in 45th place with a time of 24:00.
Senior Becca Taylor (Hamilton, Ohio/Edgewood) finished 66th (24:18), junior Dorothy Todd (Watkinsville, Ga./Athens Academy) placed 98th (24:43), sophomore Katherine Fenwick (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) finished 198th (25:48) and freshman Stephanie Beebe (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central) rounded out the Generals’ top finishers by placing 218th with a time of 26:02.
The W&L women return to action on Oct. 4 as they participate in the Virginia State Championships. The men are also in action on Oct. 4 at the Hanover Invitational.
