Matt Stavish is in his first season as an assistant coach at Washington and Lee, but is no stranger to the Generals football program.

Following graduation, Stavish served as a graduate assistant for the football program at the University of Virginia, where he earned a master's degree in chemistry education in 2006. Working under Head Coach Al Groh and current Temple Head Coach Al Golden, Stavish helped lead the the Cavaliers to three-straight bowl appearances, winning the 2003 Continental Tire Bowl and the 2005 Music City Bowl.
