Men's Lacrosse

The Washington and Lee men's lacrosse program has a long and storied tradition of excellence. The Generals competed as an NCAA Division I Independent until 1986 and produced some of the sport's greatest players, coaches and historical events. Since moving to Division III in 1987, W&L has won eight Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships and advanced to the NCAA Tournament eight times, finishing as a semifinalist in 1987, 2000 and 2002. Since beginning play as a varsity sport in 1947, W&L lacrosse players have earned All-America honors a staggering 171 times.

    Virginia Wesleyan senior attackman Maicin Dunk (Towson, Md./Towson) scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Shawn Fitchpatrick (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) with 2:31 remaining in the game to lift the third-seeded Marlins to a 13-12 victory over second-seeded and 19th-ranked Washington and Lee in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the W&L Turf Field.

    Junior midfielder Harry St. John (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) tallied five goals and one assist to help lead Washington and Lee to a 15-8 victory over Hampden-Sydney in ODAC men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at the W&L Turf Field.

  • 5/7/2008:  Seven Generals Named to All-ODAC Men's Lacrosse Team
    Seven members of the Washington and Lee men's lacrosse team were named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's lacrosse team, which was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
  • 4/22/2008:  A Total Of 178 W&L Students Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards
    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 178 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.
  • 4/22/2008:  W&L Continues to Raise Funds for Wilson Field Renovations
    Through the efforts of former Washington and Lee athletes, nearly $700,000 has been raised since February 1 to meet the "Rise to the Challenge" campaign for the final funding of the Wilson Field renovation project. The alumni Generals are fast-approaching the Challenge goal of $1.5 million.
  • 4/1/2008:  W&L Announces 2008 Athletic Hall of Fame Class
    Washington and Lee University has announced the 21st class to be inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame. The class includes Dave Warfield '75, Jack Berry '76, Andrew White '88, Beth Stutzmann '90 and the 1961 Football Team. The group will be recognized at the Athletic Hall of Fame dinner on Friday, Oct. 17, and at the Generals' football game against Hampden-Sydney on Sat., Oct. 18.
  • 3/31/2008:  Four Generals Named ODAC Athlete of the Week
    Washington and Lee claimed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 30 in men's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's tennis and women's track & field.
  • 2/15/2008:  ODAC Releases Women's and Men's Lacrosse Polls
    The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its 2008 women's and men's lacrosse polls on Friday. The Washington and Lee women's team sits atop the poll, while the men were tabbed to finish third.
