May 22, 2009: W&L Sweeps Old Dominion Athletic Conference Major Awards Washington and Lee University swept the Old Dominion Athletic Conference major awards for the 2008-09 school year by claiming the Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup and the Harry G. “Doc” Jopson and Majorie Berkley Awards, presented to the outstanding male and female scholar-athletes of the year.
April 16, 2009: Numerous W&L Students Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 172 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.
March 20, 2009: W&L Participating In National Sportsmanship Day The Institute for International Sport is holding a National Sportsmanship Day and Washington and Lee will participate on Saturday. The Generals will celebrate the day with home events in men's and women's tennis, men's and women's lacrosse and baseball.
March 9, 2009: W&L's Van Devender Awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Washington and Lee senior forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) has been awarded a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarship. The award is a $7,500 scholarship for academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
