Washington and Lee has one of the finest men's swimming programs in Division III. The Generals have been a fixture in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships over the years and finished eighth at the 2007 NCAA Championship event. Over the years, W&L swimmers have claimed four individual NCAA Championships and been named All-American a staggering 131 times since 1969. The Generals have had at least one All-America swimmer for each of the past 33 seasons and seven swimmers garnered All-America recognition last season alone.

• W&L Men's Swimming Finishes Eighth Overall at NCAA Championships
  The Washington and Lee men’s swimming team completed action at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday evening at Miami University. The Generals finished eighth overall with 143 points.

  The Washington and Lee men’s swimming team competed in the second day of the 2008 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center at Miami University (Ohio).
• W&L Men's Swimming in Sixth After Day 1 of NCAA's; Sweet Wins Title in 50 Free
  The Washington and Lee men’s swimming team competed in the first day of the 2008 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday at the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center at Miami University (Ohio). W&L is in sixth place after six events and was led by senior Alex Sweet (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day), who the national title and broke the NCAA DIII championship record in the 50 free.
• W&L Swimming in Action at St. Mary's (Md.)
  Selected members of the Washington and Lee men's and women's swimming teams competed at a last chance meet hosted by St. Mary's (Md.) in hopes of improving their NCAA qualifying times for the upcoming 2008 Division III Championships.

• 5/8/2008:  Generals Place 12 Swimmers on All-Bluegrass Mountain Team
  Washington and Lee recently had 12 men's swimmers named First Team All-Bluegrass Mountain Conference (BMC), following their performances at the 2008 Championship Meet. Additionally, senior Alex Sweet (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) was named the BMC Swimmer of the Year.
• 4/29/2008:  W&L's McGlaston Awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
  Senior men's swimmer Tim McGlaston (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) has been awarded a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarship. The award is a $7,500 scholarship for academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
• 4/22/2008:  A Total Of 178 W&L Students Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards
  Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 178 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.
• 4/4/2008:  W&L's Alex Sweet Qualifies for the U.S. Olympic Trials
  Washington and Lee senior swimmer Alex Sweet (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) has qualified to participate in the United States Olympic Trials held June 29 - July 6, 2008 at the Qwest Center in Lincoln, Neb.
• 1/30/2008:  W&L Men's Swimming Continues to Be Recognized on National Level
  The Washington and Lee men's swimming team was recently recognized by CollegeSwimming.com on the individual and team level. Senior Alex Sweet (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) was named the Division III National Swimmer of the Week for the week ending Jan. 27, while the team is now ranked seventh in Division III.
