Washington and Lee women's tennis reached a pinnacle in 2007 when it claimed the NCAA Division III National Championship with a 5-2 victory over Amherst College. Though it was the program's first national title, the Generals have been a fixture in Division III women's tennis for almost two decades. W&L has won 16 of the last 17 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships and has advanced to the NCAA Tournament 15 times since 1991. Additionally, the Generals have advanced to at least the NCAA Semifinals each of the past six seasons and finished as the NCAA Runner-up four times. The 2007 title match marked the third-straight season that W&L played in the championship match and during that time, the Generals posted a 75-3 overall record.
