Women's Tennis

Washington and Lee women's tennis reached a pinnacle in 2007 when it claimed the NCAA Division III National Championship with a 5-2 victory over Amherst College. Though it was the program's first national title, the Generals have been a fixture in Division III women's tennis for almost two decades. W&L has won 16 of the last 17 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships and has advanced to the NCAA Tournament 15 times since 1991. Additionally, the Generals have advanced to at least the NCAA Semifinals each of the past six seasons and finished as the NCAA Runner-up four times. The 2007 title match marked the third-straight season that W&L played in the championship match and during that time, the Generals posted a 75-3 overall record.

    The top-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team used a 5-2 win over Carnegie Mellon to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2008 NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday afternoon. The Generals (26-0) will take on host Gustavus Adolphus (24-8) on Tues., May 13.
  • W&L Women's Tennis Advances to NCAA Third Round with 5-0 Win over Hunter
    The top-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team improved to 25-0 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 5-0 victory over Hunter College on Saturday in Monroeville, Pa. The Generals will take on No. 7 Carnegie Mellon (18-7) on Sunday at noon.
  • W&L Women's Tennis Captures Sixth-Straight ODAC Title with 9-0 Win over BC
    The top-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team won its sixth-straight conference crown with a 9-0 win over Bridgewater in the finals of the 2008 ODAC Tournament. The Generals, who own an unblemished 24-0 overall record, will receive the ODAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will look to defend their national title in the opening rounds of play May 2-4.
  • W&L Women's Tennis Advances to ODAC Tournament Finals with 5-0 Win over VWC
    The top-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team advanced to the finals of the 2008 ODAC Tournament with a 5-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon in Amherst, Va. The Generals, who own a 23-0 record, will look to win their sixth-straight conference title on Sunday at 10:00 am agains the winner of the Bridgewater/Hollins semifinal.
