The Honorable John W. Warner '49 Announces Retirement from U.S. Senate

Lexington, Virginia • September 3, 2007The Honorable John W. Warner III '49, senior senator from Virginia and former Secretary of the Navy, announced Friday that he will retire from the U.S. Senate in January 2008. Currently serving in his 29th year in the Senate, Warner is the former chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. He also serves on the Senate Intelligence Committee, the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs.
