Washington and Lee University

The Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is a critical part of Washington and Lee's budget each year.  The Annual Fund provides a vehicle for all alumni, parents and friends to make an immediate impact on current students, faculty and staff. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide unrestricted support to Washington and Lee that it usees to directly augment every aspect of the educational experience, from library books to laboratory equipment and athletic uniforms. This support enables the University to attract the nation's best students and faculty and offer them the finest academic resources and learning environment. Another highlight of the Annual Fund is a "hidden scholarship" that provides more than $2,300 for each student each year to help keep tuition at a minimum.

DETAILS:

  • The 2007-08 Annual Fund runs from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008.
  • The fundraising goal for the 2007-08 Annual Fund is $6.3 million.
  • This goal includes $850,000 specifically designated to the School of Law from its graduates and friends, and $1,000,000 from current and past parents.
  • All gifts and pledges completed before June 30th count toward this year's goal.

It would take an additional $140 million each year in endowment dollars to provide the same amount of support that Washington and Lee's alumni, parents and friends provide through the Annual Fund.
