What's your passion? Whatever your response, you'll find it at Washington and Lee. With over 140 student organizations, a strong athletic program, a bustling student center, varied music and performing arts offerings and our vibrant surrounding community of Lexington, the options are endless.
Consider yourself a politico? Join the W&L Young Democrats, the W&L College Republicans, or the College Libertarians. Host a political radio show on WLUR. Listen to the national candidates who speak on campus. Better yet, get involved with Mock Convention. Our quadrennial exercise engages the student body in the presidential primary race. We predict the non-incumbent party's cadidate for the Presidency results (to the exact delegate count) weeks and months in advance of the actual nominating convention. Since Mock Con's inception in 1908 our overall predictions have been right 18 out of the 23 times, garnering the attention of CNN, C-SPAN, NPR, and the Washington Post.
Read the business section of the newspaper first? You'll want to join the Williams Investment Society, a student group controlling over a million dollars on the stock market. Or, accompany W&L Student Consulting during local meetings with shopkeepers or the February break trip to Belize, advising their eco-tourism client.
Love to perform? Star in a Lenfest Center production (whether you're a theater major or a neuroscience major). Participate in Mindbending Productions. Play in the Jazz Ensemble or University Orchestra. Sing with the Chamber Singers, University Chorus, or one of three a capella groups. Love to dance? Join the W&L Dance Club or take courses in our new dance program.
