The second half featured 14 lead changes and seven ties, with no team leading by more than three points. The Generals took a 59-58 advantage at 3:53, but did not score for the rest of regulation and Swan hit the second of a pair of free throws with 43 seconds to play to force the extra session.

In overtime, both teams traded buckets in the opening minutes, and the contest was tied at 64-64 with 2:35 remaining in the period. However, Goucher scored nine-unanswered points, hitting 7-of-8 from the foul line, and emerged with a 73-64 win.
