
BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swim team defeated three ODAC teams on Saturday afternoon, downing Bridgewater (96-65), Emory & Henry (96-39) and Randolph (89-65). With the trio of wins, the Generals improve to 11-6 overall and 5-0 in the ODAC.
W&L won seven individual events and the 200 medley relay. The Blue and White were led by junior Lindsey Strachan (Midlothian, Va./Governor's School), who totaled two first-place finishes and swam on the winning relay. Strachan took first in the 200 IM (2:36.94 and the 400 free (4:52.89).
She also teamed up with freshman Tess Hayden (Winnetka, Ill. / New Trier), junior Susan Mahoney (Richmond, Va./St. Catherine’s) and senior Collete Moryan (Westfield, N.J. / Mount Saint Mary Academy) to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:12.49.
Additionally, Mahoney, Hayden and Moryan each registered a winning performance. Mahoney touched first in the 100 fly (1:11.11), while Hayden posted the top time in the 200 free (2:15.90). Moryan placed first in the 100 back in a time of 1:16.42.
Senior Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Nacogdoches) and junior Jessica Shaw (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) rounded out the Generals' first-place finishes. Roberson won the 100 free (1:04.02) and Shaw touched first in the 800 free (10:08.51).
The Generals return to action on Saturday when they take on Guilford and Hollins at 1:00 pm in Hollins, Va.
