GLEN ALLEN, Va. -- The Washington and Lee golf team finished third out of 12 teams at the Randolph-Macon Ted Keller Invitational held at the Hunting Hawk Golf Club in Glen Allen, Va., on Saturday and Sunday. The Generals carded a second round score of 313 to finish with a two-day score of 301-313--614.
Hampden-Sydney claimed the team championship with a score of 305-292--597. Wesley (305-306--611), W&L, Randolph-Macon (308-308--616) and Bridgewater (304-313--617) rounded out the top five teams.
Individually for W&L, senior Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller) tied for second overall with a score of 72-73--145. James trailed medalist Zach Wehrman of Randolph-Macon by just one stroke.
Senior Steven Spivey (Martinsville, Va./Martinsville) tied for ninth with a 74-77--151, while freshman Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) finished tied for 15th with a 76-78--154. Junior Beau Allen (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) and sophomore Joe Gibson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) rounded out the Generals individuals with scores of 79-85--164 and 82-85--167, respectively. Allen tied for 50th, while Gibson tied for 52nd place.
The Generals return to action on October 1 when they begin play at the Greensboro Invitational.
