W&L Golf Finishes Ninth at Greensboro Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Washington and Lee golf team finished ninth out of 18 teams at the Greensboro Invitational held at the Bryan Park Golf Course in Greensboro, N.C., on Monday and Tuesday.

The Generals carded a two-day score of 307-311--618 to finish 39 strokes behind team champion, Methodist College (289-290--579). Guilford finished second with a 298-296--594, followed by Oglethorpe (296-299--595), Huntingdon (300-301--601), Washington & Jefferson (300-313--613), Emory (304-310--614), LaGrange (304-310--614), Randolph-Macon (298-318--616), W&L and Averett (311-308--619).

Nick Bolva of Methodist finished as the individual medalist with a nine-under par score of 69-66--135.

Senior Nathaniel James (Keller, Texas/Keller) tied for eighth overall with a three-over score of 74-73--147. Also for Washington and Lee, sophomore Brad Watts (Sewickley, Pa./Sewickley Academy) carded a score of 79-74--153, senior Steven Spivey (Martinsville, Va./Martinsville) shot a 77-80--158, junior Andrew Green (Birmingham, Ala. / Mountain Brook) shot a 77-84--161 and freshman Tim Gavrich (Avon, Conn./Westminster) notched a score of 79-85--164.

The Generals return to action on Monday as they participate in the Guilford Tom O’Briant Invitational held at the Greensboro Country Club Farm Course in Greensboro, N.C.
