W&L Outdoor Track and Field In Action at Liberty Twilight

LYNCHBURG, Va.‑‑The Washington and Lee outdoor track and field teams were in action this afternoon at the Liberty Twilight meet and competed against Division I, II and III competition. The Generals had one athlete set a school record and qualify for nationals.

The Blue and White were led by junior Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield), who finished fifth overall when she crossed the tape in a school‑record and NCAA qualifying time of 4:37.90 in the 1500. Additionally, her time is currently the 13th fastest in the country.

Other top performances include junior Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter), who placed fourth overall in the shot put with a personal‑best toss of 32'6" and sophomore Sallie Armstrong (Houston, Texas/St. John's), who finished eighth overall with a personal-best toss of 32'0.75" in the shot put.

Washington and Lee returns to competition on Sunday as it competes in the Duke Twilight Qualifier.  Events are scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm.
