
HOLLINS, Va. – The ninth-ranked Washington and Lee women’s lacrosse team jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening 8:06 of the game and never looked back in claiming a 17-1 victory over Hollins on Wednesday afternoon.
The Generals (4-0, 1-0) tallied 10 first-half scores, including three by sophomore attacker Meredith Freeman (St. Louis Mo./MICDS), en route to a 10-1 lead at the break.
Senior midfielder Megan Slosson (Cockeysville, Md./Maryvale Prep) added a pair of second half scores as W&L pulled away for the win.
Freshman midfielder Kate Donnelly (Houston, Texas/St. John’s) led the Generals’ offensive attack with three goals and two assists. Freeman and Slosson both posted three goals and one assist, while junior attacker Katie Flippen (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) notched two goals. Junior midfielder Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) chipped in a trio of assists. Senior Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and freshman Katharine Farrar (Lexington, Va./Episcopal) each played 30 minutes in goal, with Farrar making one save.
Senior midfielder Pam Cruz scored the lone goal for Hollins (0-1, 0-1). Sophomore Tegan Urbanski played all 60 minutes in goal and stopped five shots.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it travels to top-ranked Franklin & Marshall for a 1:00 pm contest.
