Parents play a very important role in the college admissions process. They act as counselors, tour guides, travel agents and drivers during the college search. But more importantly, parents are helpers and supporters during the application process. We encourage parents and students to think and speak seriously with one another about the college choice.
While our admission staff takes great pleasure in interacting with parents, we also feel that the college search process should be student-oriented and student-driven. Personal contact with applicants is valuable in our application review and is an excellent means for students to help us get to know them better while signaling their genuine interest in W&L.
One of the most frequently asked questions from parents is about our financial aid process. While the process itself can be daunting, the members of our Financial Aid Office are always willing to answer questions. As students begin to apply for admission, parents should be preparing for the fiancial aid process. Washington and Lee requires the FAFSA and CSS/Profile forms to be submitted by all families wishing to apply for need-based financial aid. These forms should be filed as soon as possible, but certainly no later than February 1st.
Should you have questions regarding the Financial Aid process, please contact the Financial Aid Office directly at 540-458-8715 or 8717.
